May 6: Mr. and Mrs. Rosenwach, noted American-Jewish industrialists, and Jewish-American author Andrea Lingenfelter visited CJSS. Dean Prof. Pan Guang and Deputy Dean Zhou Guojian welcomed them. The same day, Zhou Guojian, Yao Qin, Wang Zhen, Cheng Wenqin and others went to inspect the exhibition at Ohel Rachel Synangogue and discussed potential next steps concerning the exhibition.

April 29: U.S.-American painter Barbara Edelstein paid a visit to Dean Prof. Pan. Deputy Dean Zhou Guojian, Cheng Wenqin, Wang Zhen, Liu Jinqian were present.

 
 

April 28: H.E. M. K. Bhadrakumar, a former Indian Ambassador, a member of India’s Communist (Marxist) Party, and noted expert on international issues, visited CJSS and gave a lecture. Dean Prof. Pan Guang welcomed and entertained the guest to dinner.

 

April 25: Russian Deputy Consul General in Shanghai, Sergey Paltov, visited the center and engaged in discussions on the Middle East and Central Asia.

April 22: CJSS co-organized with the Eurasia Department’s Center on Middle East Studies the conference “The Middle-East’s Near Future.” The same day, SASS celebrated the 50th anniversary of study of Judaism and presented in a plenary session a monograph. Zhu Wen from the Shanghai Office of the Beijing Gui’an Consultancy.

April 8: Prof. Wang Yuwei, Dean of the Center for Immigration Research at Taiwan’s Central Police University, visited the center and was welcome and treated to dinner by Dean Prof. Pan Guang. Hai Liang, Director of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences’ Office for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs, Deputy Dean Zhou Guojian, and colleagues from the Shanghai Municipal Government’s Taiwan Affairs Office attended.

 

April 7: Jew and former refugee in Shanghai Oscar Sirkes visited the centre with his wife. Deputy General Secretary Wang Zhen accompanied on a visit to Hongkou.

April 2: Dr. Maria Klawe, President of Harvey Mudd College (Part of Clairmont Colleges, California) visited the Academy of Social Sciences Shanghai and gave a talk on “The Use of Humanities and Social Sciences in Training Leaders in High-Tech and Economics.” SASS Acting Associate Dean Zuo Xuejin attended the talk, which was chaired by CJSS Dean Prof. Pan Guang.

 

March 31: Martin B. Gold, Member of the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad, visited the center to discuss matters relating to the commemorative events to be held for Ho Fengshan in June in Shanghai. Yao Zong from the city’s Foreign Affairs Office participated in the meeting.
